John Stehmeier, owner of Mountain Ponds has caught the water gardening ‘fever’. As a graduate from Cal Poly, Pomona with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and a lifetime Lake Arrowhead resident, John has always looked for ways to offer his clients individuality and uniqueness in landscaping. He has found this in building water features - ponds, streams and waterfalls and supplying water plants and Koi fish.

He knows from experience that no other landscape feature is more rewarding than a pond and stream in one’s own backyard. After a busy day, John and his family enjoy unwinding and having dinner by their large pond and stream in his own yard. Never before did his yard (or any other yard) give him that kind of stress relief and relaxation.

John has attended hours of classes and and instruction by Master Pond Builders.

All this helps to insure that every water feature is perfectly built. The end result – every pond and stream built is a miniature environmentally sound, self-contained ecosystem. The entire installation usually takes less than five days to complete.

In this era of drought, water gardening has increased in popularity. Not only are ponds low-maintenance, they are drought friendly. A water garden takes far less water than the same size area of grass, and can be enjoyed year round, even in severe mountain weather.
